Back in September 2024 a group from The Wheaton Whiskey Club and Malloy’s Finest spent an afternoon at the Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon KY. The group sampled through four different barrels at three different proof points. After much deliberation the panel landed on something truly special. We were privileged to have Stephen Beam, the distillery’s owner and founder, join us throughout the tasting and selection process.
As Matt and Jeff’s first barrel pick since taking over curation of the WWC can think of no better name than to call this pick “RESURGENCE”
Yellowstone Malloy’s / WWC Single Barrel / Bourbon / 119 Proof
Nose: Who remembers Little Debbie Spice Cakes? With the vanilla icing and all. There’s a sweet corn cereal note, and a touch of banana.
Taste: The baking spices roll into a great viscous mouthfeel with a tiny bit of anise and black pepper, then the cinnamon burn climbs to the end of the palate.
Finish: here, the dessert dram shows up with sweet caramel, powdered sugar and soft cinnamon.
This one is special. We wondered what it would take for the owner of the distillery to sit in on this pick, but now we know. And when it comes to Malloy’s, you will have a chance to know as well.
Following order confirmation (check Spam folder) we’ll follow up with details on how to pickup your bottle from Malloy’s in Glen Ellyn.
Cheers!
